CH. 3: Master
Standing in front of the council table Buzz starts to sweat for he knows that the questioning is about to begin. His master leaves the center of the floor and retires to the side with the rest of the guests. This is his most important moment in his whole existence so far. To fail would me death, to succeed means immortality and power to create universes. Buzz was so worried that he missed the first couple words from Council member Artimes. “And on this occasion we have gathered here to bear witness to the right of Apprentice Buzz to ascend to the rank of 1st Tier. Are there any who would oppose this ascension?” Scanning the room without looking to deliberate Buzz neither hears nor sees anything against him. What a wave of relief it was so far. “Ok seeing how no one is against this then we will proceed with the next line of questions. One question from each council member. Artimes remarks Glancing to his right and the end of the table sits Councilman Rupert. Tall and lanky with a scraggly gray beard. He wore six universes. Some said he would never make seven. Artimes asks Rupert to start the questioning. “Very well Councilman Artimes I shall ask young Buzz what are the eight tiers of progression.” Buzz knows this back and forth, but he is aware of Master Rupert's eyes boring into his soul to see if he really knows or just thinks he knows. Standing up straight and brushing invisible crumbs of his robe Buzz recites the eight tiers. “1st tier is to learn what the differences between two truths are and to except the responsibility to be a keeper of a universe”. Thinking that went well Buzz continues. “2nd tier is the ability to see if the truths learned hold sway in the universe acquired. Third tier is the tier of creation. One must create a viable universe. Fourth tier is the tier of master to apprentice relationships. One must train and advance one apprentice in the ways of the keepers to attain this tier. 5th tier requires advancement into the house of laws were one helps advise the Council of Light. Sixth tier requires one to account for ones actions on the field of battle with the side of Dark. Seventh tier can only be achieved with the death of a council member and unanimous decision of the other members to promote to the ruling Council of Light. Eighth tier is the tier of guidance there is only one 8th tier member and theirs is the voice of the light. They hold the ring of the prime universe, and guide the Council of Light”. Thinking that was a load of bull Buzz realizes that the ruling council member actually ruled very rarely asking for advice.
Next to Rupert was Councilwoman Jacqueline. Short with brown hair that hung down to her waist. Some implied that she slepted her way to the council seat. She looks at Buzz and considers her question. Jacky was at a lost to think. Not only did she not want to be here she had important things to decide than whether this silly boy deserved promotion. Stalling for a bit of time Jacky conjures up a glass of water to drink. While she takes small sips she scans the room and spots her apprentice Tearia standing off to one side and watching something very closely. Hmm, what could it be, oh my well what do you know she is looking straight at Buzz. Our beautiful wonderful Buzz who is about to get his very own universe. It was perfect. She could kill two birds with one question. Not only could she wreak Artemis’s plan but she could also get rid of this very inquisitive child. Yes this could work Jacky was thinking but what is the right question. Not too tough, but believable. “Apprentice Buzz”, Jacky says. “Tell me what the Law of Light is”? Murmurs run through the hall. “What did she say”? “You can not be serious, such a simple question”. Taken aback by the easy of the question, but not showing any concern Buzz tells Jacky. “The Law of Light is that one must walk the path of Grey. The path of neutrality. For it is known that light can not exist without the dark”.
Councilman Ra Keth was a Morth. His father was human and his mother was from the Dark side.
Very few mixed breeds survived let alone grew to be on the councils. It was proof to all the morth’s that things could be done. Ra Keth turned those piercing blue eyes on Buzz and thought that trouble was going to come of this promotion. There was nothing he could do to stop it per say. Because this was sponsored by Artimes. He could make the boy look bad. However, did he want another enemy? Thinking on what to ask this potential powder keg, he gets a bit of inspiration form a child in the audience. “Apprentice Buzz”, Ra Keth says, “May I have your opinion on what created this building and why”? This should be good Ra Keth decided for the boy could hurt himself with a foolish answer and Ra Keth would be in the clear.
