council table confirmed his belief that nothing but trouble was going to come of this but Buzz had demonstrated his knowledge and ability. Passing these tests, he was now able to receive his rank of Master.
Sighing inwardly for the boy. Artimes tells Buzz to restore the system back and to let go of the universe. Not wanting to let go of this wonderful feeling. Buzz realizes that everyone is still watching him especial the council members. Why he has the power, he can do anything he wants. He does not need there help or support. “Buzz put it back and let go” responds his master. Like a bolt of lighting going through his body, Buzz understands that this is also part of the test. Taking what you want but also putting back when you are done. So sadly he restores the system back in the universe and let’s goes of the power.
Walking back up to the council table Buzz bows and asks for the Councils blessing. All the council members rise and began chanting in the forgotten language. In front of Buzz a ball of light appears and starts to form a ring with a diamond in it. “Take it Apprentice Buzz and take with it the title and rank of Master”, Artimes says. So Buzz reaches inside the ball of power and takes his ring. At the first contact with him, he is drowned in power and knowledge. So much so that he can barely stand. So much information so much power. Overcoming him, unable to think. Buzz feels a slap on his face and looks up into Tearia’s beautiful eyes. “Concentrate Buzz”, she tells him. “You can master it”. Shutting out all outside interference Buzz concentrates on channeling the power to that part of the mind developed for running a universe. The unconscious mind can run multiple universes with few suggestions from the conscious mind. Standing on wobbly legs Buzz straightens himself, and thanks the Council members for their confidence in him and his ability. Councilman Artimes tells the crowed “I present our newest member Master Buzz”. The room erupts in hollering and cheers of good luck and a job well done. Buzz is swept out the room and to a party prepared by Tearia and Jacob.
Looking down at his new ring. Buzz thinks; man what a sight a band beaten from the heart of a star. Dull gray in color. Centered in the middle held down by ruby prongs was a tear drop pure white diamond. Moreover, inside was his very own universe. Yep it only took a million years of apprenticeship but I did it. For awhile it seemed like it would be forever. Remembering once on a painful mission 250 billion, lives snuffed out in seconds all because of his momentary lapse of attention. I was just doing a routine cleaning of my master’s universe when adjusting the time flow of a star I thought about Tearia. I lost control for only a flicker, but that is all it took. It went nova and destroyed a whole solar system. My master sent me back down to apprentice school for another 10,000 years before giving me another job.
Buzz knew that with this awe inspiring responsibility he had to take care of his universe or it would not take care of him. It was small. I guess only 15 billion years old. Young by the standards of others, but not a new one. He had worked in it before for his master. (Sighs) yes I know it well. It is my home universe. From the planet Earth (shaking his head) or I should say the Earth of a million years past.
Looking up from his ring Nathan tells his father “thank you father for giving me this multiverse.” His father says: “of course my boy it was past time anyway for you to have one.” Our family must maintain a higher standard of creation and ownership than the other families. That is why your grandfather made that one so one day his grandson would have something remarkable to own. We have done this tradition for countless generations, father to son, and grandfather to grandson. Nathan looks again at his ring with the multiverse inside and wonders what he will have the council of Light and Dark do next. Thinking that he might include Buzz in it was going to be fun. Not that they have any idea that they will be doing his bidding anyway. Laughing Nathan and his father walk up to the old house with the picket fence and tree with the swing and a sandbox. Sighing to himself Nathan knows that this will be the last time he will be allowed to play outside again. For he has become a Keeper.
