| Server Ping Time and you..... |

At the "Command Prompt" (usually found under accesories, or under "start" - "Run" type "cmd" without the quotes)
Type tracert name of server.everquest2.com
Ex. tracert mistmoore.everquest2.com
This will give you "Ping" time, to help choose a server suited for your area. Lower Ping time is a good thing, not a HUGE difference, but in my opinion, every little bit helps.
I live in the Central part of the US, so these are my options(better \"ping\" )
Befallen
Crushbone
Mistmoore
Permafrost
These servers show a higher \"Ping\" for me:
Antonia Bayle
BlackBurrow
Guk
Najena
Unrest
Just a little bit of info
:)

I'm also in the midwest. Are we talking about a latency difference between those servers of like 10ms or more like upwards of 100ms?
If it's the latter, I might reconsider going to Atonia Bayle and just pick a server I can connect to more efficiently.

OK, I just answered my own questions here at work. So the PC they gave me actually came in handy... heheh I pinged befallen and antonia bayle.
Befallen:
packet 1 - 25ms
packet 2 - 24ms
packet 3 - 24ms
packet 4 - 24ms
Antonia Bayle:
packet 1 - 59ms
packet 2 - 59ms
packet 3 - 59ms
packet 4 - 59ms
Hmm... I'll have to conduct this little experiment at home in the evening now too. Granted, 59ms is very well playable but who knows how bloated that will get during peak usage hours.

20ms difference is really not that big a deal, but some people like to play under the best conditions they can.
For some, a gain in 2 fps is the next best thing since Peanut Butter. :)
I think that any server you want to play on will be fine(unless you are on dial-up). I have not heard of but one RP server, which for me is a 74ms ping.
I doubt that I will be doing the RP thing, but it was nice to know what servers had the best response time.
A Guild that my wife and I may join is going to the Befallen server, the ping time for me was 42ms, so that also was good to know.
Either way bro, unless you are on dial-up it should not be a big thing.
:)

tracert gives you time in ms between hops and the number of hops to get to your 'destination'.
Ping gives you the time for packet to be sent, received and responded to reported as an elapsed round trip.
Just wish the server my guild chose was under 10 hops and 96ms :(
