| Station Access to gain yet another game! |

For those EQ2 players who subscribe to SOE's Station Access plan, another game is going to be added to the line up planned for this fall! Check out the recent Pirates of the Burning Sea announcement.
While I barely have time for EQ2 and VG, I'm totally impressed by SOE's ability to pick up and offer these games for one great sub.

Wow, PotBS is going to be part of station too? That is great! It looks like I should really go full station soon. Still mainly for Vanguard, but PotBS looks fun, Gods and Heroes will be amazing, and I already got Matrix Online. Now I should find myself a cheap EQ2 box somewhere. Life is good!

A lot of folks complained and rightfully so about the increased fee for Station Access awhile back but I have to give Sony well deserved credit for working to add value to this plan. I purchased a legal new copy of the Station Access collection sometime ago and have been able to enjoy a taste of Star Wars Galaxies and Matrix Online in addition too my nearly daily doeses of EQ2 and Vanguard and it sure is nice to know we can enjoy these other diversion at no additional cost as part of the plan. Even if you love a game it is nice to sometimes have the option to wander into other worlds for a bit.
The plan does show some favoritism towards the EQ2 side in that we also get extra character slots, and the adventure packs for free as Station Access subscribers but I have heard some rumblings that Vanguard players may get an exta toon slot in the future and some benefits may be given to Star Wars players in the future.
This really is great news and I know I will be compelled at sometime to casually sample POTB and thanks to Station Access I can. :)

I could probably blame SOE for my Alt-aholism with those extra 6 character slots! :-)
I've never tried SWG or MO but POTBS does look interesting in what I've seen about it over on mmorpg.com. And as you said, because of Station Access it will be possible to just check it out sometime without spending umpteen $$$ on subs.

Well, you do need to purchase the game of course.
But it is a really clever way by SOE to make us buy something we would otherwise maybe not have bought. And since the total number of hours we will be online is not increasing by adding more games to the pool they don't really have to add extra support. Yet each of the station games get automatically a higher players base. And it will become very hard for station players to start picking up games outside the network. Very clever indeed.

Oh yes, but then we buy two or three games over the course of the year anyway and what could be better than if they were part of SA. :-) From what I've seen, SOE tends to pick up or develop really good quality games and their business practice is indeed pretty smart. :-)

Of course you would be welcome though I hope you won't find our slow and easy no pressure at all pace to be too confining. :)
Now as for SOE and Station Access. I hate to say this at the expense of anyones game but I really thing that if it contributes to the cost in any way that Planetside be dropped from Station Access. As for other games in the bundle I played Star Wars Galaxies some and it was ok but it has one major deal breaker for me in that you can only have 1 toon per server and for an altaholic that is the kiss of death. Also the piloting a space craft aspect of it was not much fun but melee combat as a jedi was great fun and the game looks very nice and plays smoothly. The Matrix Online was a short experiemnt and the game has a nice community but the quests have lots of timed missions and lots of running away from agents. Not fair to say too much about either game as my toons are all sub level 10 and I only sampled them really. You do have to buy the software for the games but I got the Station Access pack very inexpensively. Also I saw the basic everquest 2 game for $6.99 at the local software store and the 1st edition of Massive magazine (now MMO games) had trial versions of the game that could be upgraded easily.
