Wow! That is some nice system! If that can't run EQ2 on highest settings nothing will.

Yep Hello again Slash. I know you have been seeking EQ2 perfection for sometime now. Only 2 things might slow you down a tad. Your cable internet may or may not have some lag issues at time and you may end up with a bigger power supply down the road but the system you describe is like a magazine quote of an ideal system so it should be more than enough.

Hell no!
Sorry, that won't do. You'd better give that system to me and get something pre-build from Packard-Bell.
No?
Please?
Power Supply might be a bit weak for that system like Mike said and you're always going to be at the whim of those whimsical network Gods. If you want to spend a few hundred quid on a Killer NIC card you might boost performance there, but I doubt you'd notice much.
EQ2 actually might not know what to do with that many resources.

I have a Core 2 Duo 2.33 GHz, 2 GB Ram, Radeon Mobility x1600 256 MB, 20" Wide LCD @ 1680x1050 and i can run about anything on max in everquest 2 except shadows, all shadows are off, as soon as i turn even the minimum shadows on, let alone max the FPS's drop into a coma. I can run guildwars with max gfx and has shadows and i get like 50 FPS... so weird but oh well, i think eq2 has slightly better shading system then gw.

I think GW utilizes Pixel/Vertex Shaders 1.4 and EQ2 upgraded to 2.0 some time ago, with backwards compatibility to 1.0 and 1.4, but your problem is ATI and Specular Shadows the way EQ2 employs them. I played EQ2 with an X1600 (AGP) and had the exact same issue.
Still, while I'm currently on a Geforce 7950 GTS (PCIE) I still have shadows at near minimum. nVidia handles them beter thn ATI, but I find their presence not really adding much, compared to what they cost in terms of perfomrance.
Note: the AGP/PCIE difference should not be a factor in rendering shadows, that's just about pure calculus, GPU work.

Yeah, any chance this card gets it will tell any hardware program wether it be Windows XP/OSX or any other program it will say PCI Express "mobile" bus

Mobile bus...
As in laptop.
As in Video Memory concists for 90% out of regulare RAM rather than dimms on the videocard itself.
As in, "Bring out the gimp!"
I hope it wasn't sold to you as one of those "Gaming laptop" jokes? No, wait. You got a MacBook on dual-boot I believe.
Any problems you have with performance can be blamed on that shared memory.

good guess, its a late 2006 iMac, and i have no performance issues at all, its just that my performance will pay in only eq2 if i turn on shadows but other than that i beat the crap out some of my friends PC's with nVidias in speed area and stuff and im using XP on a mac and at the time Bootcamp BETA lol. But it might just be that they use crappy older CPUS when i have this magical Dual Core 2.33GHz that never lets me down, or even overheats for that matter, if anything the first thing to make an over heat fan to kick on in this thing would be the graphics (rarely) OR it just being hot in the room.
EDIT: i wanna hear back from the original poster if he got eq2 running well on his system, that comp sounds really nice...

Now if I could just run it on my Amiga; Zorro III bus for the win 98 pins with 2 to burn. :P But in all seriousness that is great to hear that it runs nicely under Bootcamp though since Mac OS-X I had always hoped ports would be easier for developers and held out hope that a Mac OS version of EQ2 would be a reality. Great info though as I have a few guildmates that are playing Final Fantasy and some other games due to a lack of a mac client. :)
