So how excited are you folks about voice chat being added to EQ2? Are you going to drop you Teamspeak or other voice services? I expect the new GU is not too far away.

Not overly excited. While it has been nice to be able to chat in LoTRO, LoTRO voice chat is fraught with issues for some users, and as more games add voice chat capabilities (EQ2 included) I expect the same will ensue. It works for some, not for others.
Having built-in chat may encourage more people to use the feature, at least those that had been looking at Ventrilo or Teamspeak, but I don't see it causing a mass exodus from those programs. Nor do I see it encouraging those people that don't use Ventrilo or Teamspeak, for various reasons, to use it.

I really really dislike voice-chat. Period. But especially in games. It adds nothing to my enjoyment. Fortunately so far it is not used by everybody yet, so I can still have fun with other players. The integrated voice feature in DDO already made me feel isolated. Now that they have added it to EQ2 it means it is an extra reason to probably never try EQ2. I think they made a big mistake to add this.

I am looking forward to it.
As an officer in my guild, it'll be so much nicer to use the in-game voice chat instead of having to set up a new account for every new person that joins on our Ventrillo server.
Plus, not having to set up accounts for people that aren't in our guild just because they are joining us on a raid.
Plus, it means we don't have to pay extra for a Ventrillo server. :)
I haven't used it on Test, but it sounds cool. I'm curious as to how they'll enable having more than one voice chat going at once per character, but I am hopeful.

Great to see you Dread! Well I think the feature will be disabled unless you enable it so if folks want to avoid it they can. I will probably only use it occasionaly like during raids or particularly complex fights. This last weekend was comic con which usually means SOE fan faire is not far away and announcements about the next expansion have been coming out of that event for last couple of years.

Since it's gone Live, I have to say it rocks!
You can turn it off, and/or disable the "auto-joining" feature (which I have done).
But overall, I like it so much more than Ventrillo and TeamSpeak.
It is safe to say my guild will not be renewing their Ventrillo unless something catastrophic happens.

One thing that is really nice with the new voice chat option is that if you do not want it you can disable it to the point of things returning to just as they were before the option was added. So far I have mixed feelings about it and have seen variable results with it but overall I am glad it is in the game and will use it on complex quests and to coordiante things.

I have to admit it was easier to set up and worked better than my attempt at voice chat in LOTRO.

Oh yes setup was easier but right now I think the sound quality was slightly better in LOTRO but both are well within the acceptable range.
