So you want to craft? But what do you want to be?
There are 3 Tradeskill classes in EQ2 and 9 subclasses. From levels 1-9 everyone starts out as an Artisan. At level 10 you can choose from Craftsman, Outfitter, or Scholar. Once you reach level 20, however, you choose a subclass.
Craftsman can specialize and become Provisioners (brews, beverages, and foods), Woodworkers (staves, bows, shields, arrows, and instruments), or Carpenters (furniture and fixtures to decorate your home.
Outfitters can specialize and become Armorers (metal armor such as plate and chain), Tailors (cloth and leather armor), or Weaponsmiths (metal weapons such as swords, axes, daggers, and hammers).
Scholars can specialize and become Jewelers (talismans and jewelry), Sages (scrolls to upgrade spell and combat arts), or Alchemists (potions and poisons).
Then there are two secondary Tradeskills to choose from if you want. Transmuting involves breaking down loot items to create raw resources that can be used in the crafting of adornments which can be added to weapons, jewelry, etc. Tinkering lets you create crafting tools, portable workstations, and many other items.
Crafting in EQ2 involves harvesting raw materials and combining them with fuels at a crafting station to make a finished product. You can use the finished product, give it to guildmates or others, or sell it on the broker. But what should you price the item at? How will you know if you are making a profit? Well, if you harvest the raws yourself, your only expense is the fuel it takes to make the item and some items take 1-5 or more pieces of fuel to craft. The chart below lists the cost of a single piece of fuel, as well as the various fuel types for each crafting tier.
